david [cyt | ryt, LMT]

David has been practicing yoga for 5 years. He first came to yoga to learn to control his “monkey mind.” Yoga not only helped with that, but after a few weeks, he found that the stiffness he thought was just an inevitable result of aging—was gone! Clearly he had discovered something wonderful. As his practice of yoga deepened, he found that his whole outlook on many things shifted. He was able to find fresh new insights into himself and clear many issues he had dealt with for years. After 35 years in corporate America, David has left that life and begun a new life in yoga. Along with a regular yoga and meditation practice, he has attended weekend series and retreats with Martin Kirk, Simon Park, Mary Paffard and Sarah Powers, among others. David studied massage at Natural Health Institute in Bowling Green. As well, he did an in depth study of Thai massage with Jon Mandeville and studied Hospice Massage with Irene Smith in California (Everflowing Touch™). Expect a practice centered on pranayama (breath) and a meditative mindset in his classes.

susan [cyt]

Susan has been a student of yoga since 1998 and received her 200 hour certification from the Holy Cow Yoga Center in Charleston, SC in 2004.  She is currently working towards her 500 hour and Yoga Therapy certification through Etowah Valley Yoga in Cartersville, Georgia, her old yoga "haunt" from her four years living and teaching yoga in the Atlanta area. Susan's teaching style shares her joyful, uplifting approach to practice reflecting her absolutely favorite thing in life: to share yoga with fellow students to enhance good health and the balanced, peaceful feeling that comes from a regular practice.  Susan does not view yoga as an extreme sport, but rather in addition to one's work out regimen to reach a balanced, healthy body. Susan embraces what Swami Satchidananda founder of Integral Yoga and the style in which she was trained,  refers to as the real purpose in yoga..."The purpose of yoga is to have an 'easeful' body,  a peaceful mind and therefore a useful life.  'Easeful', peaceful, useful."

shanna [cyt]

After a running injury in 2005, Shanna began practicing yoga at a studio in her hometown of Melbourne Beach, Florida. While there she began her training with Yogafit Training Systems.  When her main focus became Ashtanga yoga she began studying the primary series of Ashtanga with Greg Nardi in 2007 and David Swenson in 2008.  In 2007, Shanna learned the intermediate series of Ashtanga with David Williams.  She has taken Power yoga workshops with Bryan Kest in 2007 and 2008.  When taking a class with Shanna, you can expect motivating instruction throughout a heart-opening, challenging and rejuvenating Vinyasa Flow experience. She encourages students to be positive, to leave their worries behind and to have fun reaching towards their personal best. Shanna’s hope is that she can help introduce and facilitate the profound gift of yoga to others.

teresa [cyt | ryt]

After a friend encouraged her to attend a class, Teresa quickly recognized yoga as a positive practice that would significantly enhance her life and began a journey through which she continues to grow and discover the beauty of wellbeing.  Teresa loves to explore the various styles of Hatha yoga to uncover the grace, fluidity, and strength found in each approach. Through her teaching, she encourages others to listen to their body to discover yoga’s unique ability to transform and renew with each practice. Teresa completed her 200 hour teacher training at Evansville Yoga Center in April of 2010 and registered with the Yoga Alliance at the 200 hour level.  She has practiced as a registered nurse since 1980 and has spent the past 18 years teaching students interested in pursuing a career in the health care field.

shanda [cyt, ryt]

A dedicated yogini for over ten years, Shanda Packard has experienced yoga’s transformative powers in times of stress and injury as well as in times of joy and wellbeing.   Her passion for yoga is evident on and off the mat, as she seeks opportunities to bring yoga to people who may not otherwise become familiar with its many benefits.  A graduate of Evansville Yoga Center’s 200 hour RYT program, Shanda has taught for many years in Bowling Green and has taken much pleasure in teaching summer community classes for kids and adults.  She enjoys a rejuvenating vinyasa flow that serves as a moving meditation to connect mind, body, and spirit.  Shanda’s enthusiasm and energy encourages her students to find their edge, honor their body as it is today, and to have fun.

emily [ryt]

Emily has practiced yoga for 15 years and has taught for 9 years.  Growing up in rural Kentucky in an area untouched by yoga's influence, she taught herself poses and breathing techniques using videos and books. Longing for a formal education, she graduated from the RYT-200 hr. program in April 2011. Her passion is encouraging students to gain peace and confidence on the mat while breathing through physically challenging poses. She and her husband Nate have a dog named Zoey.

rachelle [ryt]

Rachelle completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training right here in Bowling Green under the direction of Debbie Marquette and Heidi Crocker. She has had a love of yoga for over 20 years, practicing in her native state of California.  After spending four months completing the SEVA program at Kirpalu Center for Yoga and Health in Massachusetts she knew the next step was to teach.  She has studied Vinyasa flow with Seane Corn, Anusara with Amy Ippoliti and attended a one evening workshop of Power Yoga with Bryan Kest.  She says her class, Aanandance, was created after dancing to live drums while at Kripalu, to combine all the benefits of a cardio type workout of free movement with all the enhanced flexibility of yoga.
